The Hon. Rona Ambrose issues statement on Easter

“Today, my family will join thousands of other Canadian Christians of many denominations in the celebration of Easter.

Also known as Pascha, Easter marks the conclusion of the Holy Week and is recognized as one of the most important days of the year in the Christian calendar. Easter is a time for all Christians to reaffirm their faith, and reflect on the meaning of the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is also an opportunity to recall our common values of unity, pluralism, and religious freedom that have made Canada one of the most peaceful and welcoming nations in the world.

“It is important to note that many are not as fortunate as we are in Canada. Easter provides us a moment to reflect upon the challenges faced by minority Christian communities around the world, such as those killed and wounded in the recent Palm Sunday terror attacks in Egypt. On this holy occasion, may our thoughts and prayers be with those who face persecution for observing their faith and the families and loved ones of those recently lost.

On behalf of the Official Opposition and the Conservative Party of Canada, I would like extend warm wishes, from my family to yours, to all those celebrating a blessed and joyful Easter.”
